The college was established in 1965 and named after Virudhunagar philanthropist kodaivallal S. Vellaichamy Nadar.
The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education- New Delhi, vide affiliation No-1931053 It is named after philanthropist Sri. Sanjeevimalayan and his wife Srimathi Vijayalakshmi for their generous donation of one crore rupees.
