Extra Co-curricular activities are essential for the all-around development of the students and are offered as an optional choice. The various activities are outsourced to ECCA – Academy. NMS Vijayalakshmi Sanjeevimalayan Kalviyagam.promotes ECCA so as to help the students to develop their extra-curricular skills.

Singing has physical benefits because it is an aerobic activity that increases oxygenation in the bloodstream and exercises major muscle groups in the upper body, even while present seated. Singing has psychological benefits because of its normally positive effect in reducing stress levels through the action of the endocrine system which is linked to our sense of emotional well-being.

Chess is often known as a game for the intellectually gifted and the best sport to exercise the most important organ in our body: the brain. Playing chess results in better brain function, improved memory and cognitive abilities, strategic thinking, and attention improvement.

HANDBALL

Handball is a fast-paced game, which helps to build up muscle tone and strength. All of the jumping, turning and slamming means most muscles are getting a vigorous workout. It develops agility of hands and feet, with sudden changes of pace and direction required. It also boosts the body’s flexibility and improves mental focus and self-confidence too.

AEROBICS

Aerobics is a form of physical exercise that combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines with the goal of improving all elements of fitness (flexibility, muscular strength, and cardio-vascular fitness). It is performed to music and practiced in a group setting led by an instructor.

  • Learning aerobics helps in building a strong immune system among children. The body gains the ability to fight disease. Practising aerobics improves the ability of kids to perform other sports and tasks. Being actively involved in aerobics helps children get less prone to cold and allergies.

CAMERA CLUB

Photography is the science, art, and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation. Photography for children can develop their learning across the curriculum and enable them to build an understanding of themselves, others, and the world around them. Learning photography boosts the self-esteem of children and develops their planning, and presentation skills. It also gives children the opportunity to communicate their ideas, thoughts and feelings. ‘Still Photography’ and ‘Video photography’ are the two options offered.
